One Foot In front of the Other… Personal

Hello my lovelies,

It has been a while I wrote anything worthwhile on this space. The month of February and March I was busy writing a novel. I titled it Wandering Stars.
I have been thinking of my blogging and how I haven’t written more than four posts in this year.

In my first post for the year, I wrote about my writing goals. It is surprising for me that I have been able to complete a novel, write one book review and I’m currently editing someone’s manuscript in the first quarter of the year. It seems I have achieved more than I expected myself to attain.

The Dusty Manuscript, a book competition came up on February 9th of this year. Though, I had plans to finish a novel, I had no plans of completing it so fast, so when the book competition came up I had to do my best. I had to write. I took off distractions; I couldn’t blog or even write on social media, I reduced chatting with friends on WhatsApp. I had 6000 words and that was all I had to Wandering Stars. I started writing the book in 2016, however due to the nature of my work between 2016 – 2017, I couldn’t do much. In fact, I did nothing. The Dusty Manuscript came as a propelling force for me to finish a novel. The minimum word count was 25,000 words.
I poured out 35,000 words out of my soul in two months I felt drained. Okay, don’t ask me how I did it. I am still amazed at what I was able to achieve in such a short while. Each time I wrote for an hour or two I felt half-alive. I remember walking out of my compound on the day I finished the work, I had not gone so far from the house when an acquaintance met with me. I didn’t see him coming and the light contact he had with me almost resulted in my fall. I felt dizzy but I didn’t show how lightheaded I was. I did not want to explain how I have written so much in such a short time. We greeted each other and I went my way.
Yeah, the work was rushed but I made a lot of progress. I am happy.

I am in the second quarter of the year and I intend to focus on my poetry book. I have about 3,700 word count for the book.

  • What do you think about the word count?
  • Is it enough or should I write some more?

Thank you all for being patient with my unusual blogging pattern.
Thanks for your good wishes, good will, prayers and support. I am making tremendous progress and I know, it’s because of you all.

Yes, lest I forget, I posted a story on Wattpad. It is story I began in 2015, for a few reasons I dumped it. I have gone back to writing the story. I know that when I have an audience I will be able to complete it. Here is the link to Chapter One of the story.

If you prefer the story here, please let me know and I will post it here. I have a temporary book design but it will soon be changed for a better one. If you would like to assist me with the book cover design I would appreciate the gesture but if not, *shrugs* I’ll still produce a nice book cover that we all would love. Thanks once again for being supportive.
God bless you all. Amen.
